Cowboys, Horses and Rodeo are the three timeless symbol of the west. If were talking about the United States of America this is true. In my countries case it’s the south and the north and in china it would be the north.
Why am I blogging this? It’s because I meet someone from work (he’s from TN) who appears to be well educated when in comes to ranch, horses, cowboys, rodeo and of course country music. I did not grow up in a ranch or in a small stable of horses but I sure do know how to ride a horse. I was raised in an environment where in cowboy boots, cowboy huts, and country music is a part of our daily life. This thing don’t make me an expert or even knowledgeable about living a country life (in his standard) but that don’t mean that I can’t claim I’m born country either.
I was born in the country side, not in the country side in the United States but hey is America the only country in this planet who has a so called country side. Anyway he told me that I can’t call my self a country girl since I was not born in a ranch, did not grow up riding horses and etc. Well I don’t know why some western people tend to be so proud and forget the fact that they are not the only people who know how to play that steel guitar (well I don’t know how to play it but my cousin does), some think they are the only people who know George straight (I love that man), allan Jackson (and of course his remember when) Keith Urban (not on my top ten but I love his “you’ll think of me”) brad paisley (I love his waiting on a woman, and whiskey lullaby and so many more), I don’t have to go on just to show that I am as well as knowledgeable as this guy when it comes to living in the country. I don’t know his standard of a country girl but I sure do know that I am born country… and proud to be one…
